To become a “fellow traveler” in the biggest story shaping our world today: the dizzying rise of the emerging world, accounting for some 85% of the world’s population. From Africa to Asia to Latin America and the Middle East, we’ll explore the markets, societies, politics, and cultures of this “85 world” looking at everything from Bollywood to bond markets, from the best place to buy milk tea in Hong Kong to the best place to invest now in emerging markets.

We also explore the intersection of geopolitics, markets, and social trends. We are relentlessly curious about our emerging world, and we aim to chronicle, monitor, and occasionally forecast it.

You will also get the occasional global thought leader interview as well as dispatches and musings from me, Afshin Molavi. In previous columns, I’ve written about everything from Globalization in a Needle to Why Travel Matters to the rise of aspiration as a powerful force in global affairs (using Downton Abbey and an Indian hip-hop artist as examples). I recently wrote a dispatch on globalization from Jebel Ali port in Dubai - Shanghai, Mumbai, Dubai or Goodbye. Even amid the current tariff wars, I still believe, to paraphrase Mark Twain, that the news of globalization’s demise has been greatly exaggerated (see my Forbes column - Globalization is Not Dying. It’s Everywhere.)
